Co-opted Governors

Siân Atkinson has recently moved back to Longhoughton.  She and her husband are both ex RAF and have previously lived in the village 3 times and have decided that this is where they want to settle.  Both of their daughters attended Longhoughton School in the late 1990s and have very happy memories of their time there.  Siân also taught at the school as a supply teacher in the 90s and more recently in 2013.  In her spare time, she enjoys cycling, playing tennis and is a keen skier.  She also loves supporting the Welsh rugby team!

Wing Commander Rob Allan is Officer Commanding Support Wing at our local Royal Air Force Station (RAF Boulmer); his role includes the responsibility for supporting Service and civilian families in the region, along with community engagement across the North-East.  With a life-long passion for education he holds a PGCE in post-compulsory education and training and spent a significant part of his career as a military training specialist. Before moving to Longhoughton he was a parent governor at a primary school in Uxbridge for five years.  Rob is married to Anna, they live in Longhoughton and have three children, two of whom attend Longhoughton CofE Primary

I'm proud to be a co-opted governor of Longhoughton C of E Primary School, having joined the team in March 2022.

I am currently the Deputy Headteacher of Norham High School in North Shields, having moved from Manchester in 2019. Prior to this, I served on the senior leadership teams of two secondary schools in Manchester.

I live in Longhoughton with my wife and our young son and now with more of our extended family who have followed us to live in this beautiful part of the country. In my spare time I love spending time with my family, ideally, in the sunshine walking on the beach!

I passionately believe that school should be a place where young people can thrive, academically, socially and emotionally; therefore I hope that my educational experience, time and energy is useful in helping Longhoughton C of E Primary school deliver the best learning experience for the young people of our community.
